ODCCA Friend and Auctioneer, Bob Kaspar Robert “Bob” Joseph Kaspar, age 76, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on February 26, 2022 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on June 23, 1945, in Fremont, Ohio to Richard and Alberta (Goldbach) Kaspar. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. He was a farmer and auctioneer and often donated his time and services for many charitable functions. During the past thirty plus years Bob, Bonnie, the Kaspar family and friends, offered their services for free, conducting two auctions for the Ohio Decoy Collectors and Carvers during their annual show. The entire family enjoyed the many events for the adults and children during the weekend. Bob looked forward to each weekend in March and offered his help in many different ways. The many members and officers of the ODDCA will miss Bob and his wonderful attitude to promote the making and collecting waterfowl decoys! Bob was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton and was involved with the Knights of Columbus. Bob was a former 4-H advisor, served on both the Senior and Junior Fair Boards for the Ottawa County Fair and was a volunteer for the Bay Township Fire Department. Bob found purpose in mentoring, influencing and loving kids unconditionally. Bob went above and beyond for his “kids” no matter what they needed. He was a great friend and father to many. Bob was a master gardener and loved to plant his trees and garden. In memory of Bob, next time you plant a tree, shrub or flower think of Bob. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie: children; Karen Kaspar, Tim Kaspar, Sherri Kaspar, Jamie (Michelle) Frohne, Rudy (Amanda) Hanzel and Grace Hanzel, grandchildren; Gus and Marissa Frohne and brother Carl (Patricia) Kaspar. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bay Township Fire Department, the Ottawa County 4-H Endowment Fund or Stein Hospice. How ODCCA BeganOn March 16 - 17, 2024, the ODCCA is holding its 45th Annual Vintage Decoys & Wildlife SHOW and SALE.
In 1963, a group of decoy collectors met in the Cleveland area to share their interest and knowledge about this artform first created by indigenous people. In 1976, the ODCCA was organized with the goal of holding an annual show and sale. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers who have kept this show going for 45 years! |
