Jim Schmiedlin Decoy to be Auctioned
NO BUYER'S PREMIUM!!! ODCCA is honored to announce that Debra Schmiedlin is donating another decoy carved by her late husband, Jim Schmiedlin, to the 2020 auction. The proceeds from the sale will be divided in half to benefit ODCCA and Jim's Journey ALS Memorial, the LiveLikeLou Foundation. The foundation provides care and comfort to ALS families and supports scientific research targeted at finding a cure. In the spirit of this charitable event, NO BUYER'S PREMIUM WILL BE CHARGED to auction this decoy! Click here for interview with Jim Schmiedlin, 2011 Midwest Decoy Collectors Association. Regarded as one of the greatest artists among contemporary decoy carvers, Jim passed away in 2015 after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Proceeds from the auction will benefit ODCCA and Jim's Journey ALS Memorial, the LiveLikeLou Foundation. The foundation provides care and comfort to ALS families and supports scientific research targeted at finding a cure. The decoy is a red-breasted merganser hen from Jim's hunting rig which served him as a loyal decoy throughout his years of gunning. In true Jim Schmiedlin style, a vast history is documented on the bottom of the decoy. “Debra is grateful to Jim's many friends, collectors and fellow carvers for their continued support and generosity in her endeavor to raise money in Jim's honor and in memory for families battling ALS,” said Vic Sutek, family friend, hunting buddy, and co-chairperson of the auction. ♥ Please consider making a donation in Jim's memory to this worthwhile foundation: www.LiveLikeLou.org. ODCCA extends a sincere “thank you” to Debra for her generosity. And be sure to stop by Debra’s booth in the ballroom to view more of Jim's stunning decoys. Questions?
