The Ohio Decoy Collectors and Carvers Association, and the Great Lakes Decoy Association, are holding their two shows March 21 – 22, 2026, Saturday and Sunday, at the Holiday Inn Cleveland South, 6001 Rockside Rd., Independence OH., 44131, just 12 miles from downtown Cleveland. “Whether you are a hobbyist or a serious collector, this show is for you! You will find an outstanding selection of vintage and contemporary decoys, fish decoys, antique fishing tackle, hunting and fishing memorabilia, and wildlife art for sale throughout the weekend for every budget,” said Brad Falkinburg, ODCCA president. “Ballroom and room sales are great opportunities to buy, sell and trade.” For duck hunters, the show is a great place to learn what is the best pose and spread for hunting-style decoys in water. On Saturday, several contests are held where decoys are floated in water-filled tanks. And on Sunday morning, the largest hunting-style decoy contest in the Midwest is held in the Holiday Inn pool, co-sponsored by the Delta Waterfowl Foundation. Known as the Wildfowler contests, a record number of entries was set last year when 92 singles and 25 three-bird rigs competed for First Place and cash prizes over $1,200. The decoys are basic, with little detail – great contests for beginning carvers. No plastic here! Anglers who like to spearfish can watch hands-on demos showing how to carve, weight and jig fish decoys in water to attract fish. Additional fish contests include decorative, working, folk art decoys, and jigging sticks. And the feature attraction is hundreds of carvers and artists from throughout the USA and Canada will compete in 24 contests for over $11,000 in prize money. Last year, carvers entered over 550 duck decoys, shorebirds, songbirds, owls, raptors, marsh critters, fish decoys, miniatures, and jigging sticks. Carving and painting styles range from highly decorative and life-like to simplistic traditional designs. Adults and students of all skill levels are encouraged to compete. Attendees also can watch world class carvers compete as they paint decoy blanks Sunday morning. Numerous raffles and silent auctions are held throughout the weekend with proceeds supporting show expenses. The ever popular in-person Ky Kraus Memorial auction starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. In addition to 50 plus lots, the auction will feature exclusive commissions from 14 top carvers in the country. Each artist will personally autograph their carving to the winning bidder. Show hours are Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weekend admission is $5 and includes a collectible show button designed by duck stamp artist, Madison Grimm. Children 17 and under, and ODCCA members are free. Both clubs are registered 501 (c)(3) non-profits. How ODCCA BeganOn March 15 - 16, 2025, the ODCCA is holding its 46th Annual Vintage Decoys & Wildlife SHOW and SALE.
In 1963, a group of decoy collectors met in the Cleveland area to share their interest and knowledge about this artform first created by indigenous people. In 1976, the ODCCA was organized with the goal of holding an annual show and sale. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers who have kept this show going for 45 years! |
