Listen up! New at our 2024 show: - Dove Decoy Contest and Auction The list of doves has been expanded to include the white-winged dove and the Eurasian collared dove. A Purchase Award of $250 goes to Best of Show. All entries will be auctioned at the Ky Kraus Memorial Auction, 6 p.m. Carvers to receive 80% share, 20% to benefit the ODCCA. (See 2024 Competition Rules page 6.) - Sunday Paint-at-Show Contests: All contests to begin at 9 a.m. Decoy Paint-at-Show, Cinnamon Teal Shorebird Paint-at-Show, Black-necked Stilt Fish Decoy Carve-at-Home & Paint-at-Show, frog. See 2024 Competition Rules pages 7 and 8.) - Cocktail-size Miniature Contests Critter has been added to the decoy and fish categories. Have fun with this! - Rest of the Marsh and Rest of the Marsh Miniatures Contests Entries will include the addition of Marsh Critters of north America such as frogs, turtles, snakes, beavers, river otters, muskrats, opossum, raccoons, woodchucks, etc. This is in addition to the usual categories of birds as described in the National Audubon Society, the Sibley Guide to Birds. (See 2024 Competition Rules page 6.) Ky Kraus Memorial Auction A 15% buyers’ premium and a 15% sellers premium will be added to all items sold or purchased. Purchasers using a credit card will be charged a 3% credit card fee. No club discounts. (See 2024 Competition Rules page 8.) Kids Kids Painting Contest Moved to Saturday, 1:30 p.m., Rockside Room This year, kids pre-school thru grade 12 will paint a 1/3 size Loon! The contest is limited to 20 participants. Email Mark Langenderfer, tartarbug@gmail.com to reserve your space. No entry fee. Autographed Decoy to be Auctioned Carvers, artists, collectors, and friends will be invited to sign this commemorative decoy that will be sold at the Ky Kraus Memorial Auction, Saturday night. Proceeds will be used to help offset the ODCCA Show expenses. New Feather Contest and Silent Auction A single feather carved from wood. Do not include the original with your entry! Feathers will be judged Sat., noon, in the Ballroom. All feathers become property of ODCCA and are entered into a Silent Auction following the contest when bids can be submitted. Auction proceeds split 50% to the carvers and 50% to benefit the ODCCA. Best of Show Feather will receive $100 and rosette. (See 2024 Competition Rules page 6). New Modern Collectibles Contest, $500 Purchase Award This contest is sponsored by the Great Lakes Decoy Association. This is the perfect opportunity for you to enter something different, and for us to feature some of the great artwork that doesn't have a home in any of the current “traditional” decoy contests. The goal of this contest is to highlight some of the “other artwork” that many make, but are rarely seen outside of an inner circle of friends. Things like hanging, flying, or standing birds, fish plaques, miniatures, other game birds or animals in general, flat art, antique it - or don’t! YOU NAME IT! Get inspired and have some fun! Best of Show Purchase Award is $500, 2nd BOS is $100, and 3rd BOS is $50. Thank you Great Lakes Decoy Association for your generous donation! (See 2024 Competition Rules page 8.) 3-Bird Rig Wildfowlers Contest The rig contest is three decoys to encourage more participation! (See 2024 Competition Rules page 5.) Senior Decorative Life-Size Floating Contest No decoys entered in this contest can be entered in another contest at the show. (See 2024 Competition Rules page 4.) |
